Training for Bereavement Ministry

These sessions will prepare participants to minister to the bereaved in the parish setting. Participants will engage in an interactive, two-day faith-based educational and spiritual learning opportunity. Participants are required to attend both Saturdays. Please bring your own lunch. Cost of the workbook (optional) is $40. 

Training is open to new and experienced Bereavement Ministers.

WHEN: Saturday, March 23 and April 6, 2019

This Network Meeting will provide a great opportunity for the Ministry with Maturing Adults leaders and potential leaders to connect with leaders from various parishes for prayer, support, sharing and networking.  We hope you can join us.

Training is open to all Leaders involved in the Ministry with Maturing Adults (including parish staff, volunteer leaders, advisory committee members and potential leaders interested in this ministry).

RCIA Formation Day for RCIA Coordinators, Catechists, and Clergy

Growing in Faith: Prayer and Catechesis

Join Rev. Séamus Hogan, D.Hist.Eccl (St. Augustine's Seminary) and Connie Price, Ph.D. (Office of Formation For Discipleship) for a day to discuss the importance of prayer, how to journey with people who feel they don't know how to pray, and how to impart the essentials of the Catholic faith in an RCIA setting.

The Struggle is Real: A discussion on Common RCIA Challenges

Join Rev. Ivan Camilleri (Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs) and Rev. Michael McGourty S.L.D (St. Augustine's Seminary and Pastor, St. Peter's Parish, Toronto) for a day to discuss some common RCIA challenges: how pastors, RCIA directors, and catechists can work best together, the reception of Protestant and Orthodox Christians into the Catholic Church, and the role and importance of sponsors and godparents.

RCIA Networking Opportunity: Ways to involve the parish in RCIA

It seems that every RCIA wish list includes something like "more people to help". While not everyone in the parish is called to be a catechist, sponsor or godparent, there are many different moments and opportunities to involve the whole parish in the RCIA process. Tonight we will look at different ways to involve those people who might not otherwise be involved in RCIA. There will be a short presentation and then time for sharing and networking.

Liturgy of the Word with Children shares the Gospel with children in a way that engages their hearts and minds.  Under the guidance of an adult leader, the children hear the Gospel in words they can understand.  The children have time to discuss what the Gospel means in their lives while continuing their participation in the Mass. During this workshop participants will:

- discern the role of the adult leader

- develop skills as a Proclaimer of the Gospel

- facilitate the Gospel reflection with children

- set up the worship space to reflect the liturgical year

- review volunteer screening requirements


Training is open for new and seasoned Leaders.

The 2019 Parish Ministry Conference is aimed at inspiring and equipping pastoral teams to better serve the parish community. Come and revitalize your gifts in service and witness to Christ in the world! The conference features ongoing formation, personal reflection, faith sharing, fellowship, networking and the celebration of the Eucharist. The ministry workshops will be offered by engaging and inspiring speakers. The Mass celebrant will be His Eminence Cardinal Thomas Collins.
